Spend a Gorgeous Fall Day in Hochatown State Park

Did you know that around 28% of the land in Oklahoma is forested? That’s more than twelve million acres and not only does that provide the state with numerous ecological benefits and recreational opportunities, it simply makes Oklahoma one of the most beautiful states in the country, especially in the fall. You will find a mixture of western grasslands, eastern woodlands, ponderosa pines, Ozark hardwoods, and mesquite scrubland. It is a diverse area and the fall, when the colors come alive, is a great time to spend some time here.

Right outside the front door of Lago Vista Bed and Breakfast you can find serenity and a winding road through trees with fall colorshost of places to walk around and explore. Nearby though you can also visit Hochatown State Park, another area of beauty and fun. This park, which was originally part of Beavers Bend State Park, now sits adjacent and wraps around the crystal clear waters of Broken Bow Lake. During your stay with us you can take a little road trip down the forest lined winding roads to this state park. You can find all sorts of backpacking and hiking trails if you are looking for a little one-on-one time with nature. There is a fish cleaning station if you want to drop a line for an afternoon and try your hand at catching black bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, and various sunfish.

With the abundance of sunny days that we get in the fall, it is also a great time to get in a few rounds of golf.
