Nestled in the heart of Kiamichi Country lies the quaint town of Hugo, OK. This beautiful area in southeast Oklahoma is also called Little Dixie as it is heavily influenced by the wonderful southern culture. It goes without saying then that a great way to pay tribute to its roots is to have a good old-fashioned bluegrass music festival!
The Early Bird Bluegrass Festival is coming up on March 28-29, 2014 and is known for providing “the best bluegrass music west of the Mississippi.” If you have a heart and soul for really good bluegrass music, this is one weekend that needs to be on your calendar. It is held annually during the last weekend in March and each year it just seems to outdo the past. It is a great opportunity to unite bluegrass players and appreciators. Even if you aren’t familiar with this style of music, grab your lawn chair, corral some friends and come on out to see what this popular festival is all about. You will hear everything from modern to traditional bluegrass and have no fear; there will be an abundance of vendors and concessions to keep you going all weekend long.
